Last updated: September 27, 2026

This policy explains what information Velamon collects across its website and the Velamon Trade platform, why we collect it, and how it’s used. It applies to Velamon and its ventures, including Velamon Trade.

1. Who we are

Velamon is a Ghana-based group building ventures that close gaps between people who create value and people who need it. This policy covers Velamon and its ventures, currently including Velamon Trade, a direct-from-farmer food commodity distribution platform. Where a data practice applies specifically to one venture rather than to Velamon generally, we’ve noted that below.

2. Information we collect

What we collect depends on how you interact with us:

Through our contact form and website

  • Your name
  • Your role (e.g. farmer, buyer, or other)
  • Email address
  • Phone number (optional)
  • The content of your message to us

Through the Velamon Trade platform

If you register or transact on Velamon Trade, we collect:

  • Full name
  • Email address and phone number
  • Ghana Card details, for identity verification (see Section 5)
  • Payment information necessary to process transactions (handled by our payment processor — see Section 4)
  • Transaction history and order details on the platform

We do not collect more than we need to provide our services, and we do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data beyond what’s listed here.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to inquiries submitted through our contact form
  • Create and manage your account on Velamon Trade
  • Verify your identity before enabling transactions
  • Process payments and facilitate transactions between farmers and buyers
  • Communicate with you about your orders, account, or our services
  • Improve our products and understand how they’re used
  • Meet our legal and regulatory obligations in Ghana

4. Who we share information with

We don’t sell your personal information. We share information only where necessary to operate our services:

  • Paystack — our payment processor, which handles payment details directly. Velamon does not store your full card or payment credentials on our own servers; Paystack’s own privacy policy governs how they handle that data.
  • Identity verification partners — if we use a third-party service to verify Ghana Card information rather than processing it ourselves, that provider will handle it under its own security and privacy obligations to us.
  • Service providers who help us operate our website, app, and communications (e.g. hosting, email delivery), bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal or regulatory bodies, where required by law or to protect Velamon’s rights, users, or the public.

5. Identity verification (Ghana Card)

Velamon Trade collects Ghana Card information to verify the identity of farmers and buyers on the platform, which helps prevent fraud and keeps transactions trustworthy for everyone involved.

Depending on our operational setup, this information may be processed directly by Velamon or by a specialized identity verification partner acting on our behalf. In either case, Ghana Card data is used solely for verification purposes and is protected with the same care as our other sensitive data categories. We will update this section with the specific verification provider, if any, once that arrangement is finalized.

6. How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as it’s needed for the purposes described in this policy — for example, for as long as your Velamon Trade account is active, or as required to meet our legal, accounting, or regulatory obligations. When information is no longer needed, we take steps to delete or anonymize it.

7. Your rights

Under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you have rights over your personal information, including the right to:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information, subject to our legal obligations
  • Withdraw consent for us to process your information, where consent is the basis for processing
  • Object to certain uses of your information

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 11.

8. Cookies and website data

Our website may use basic cookies or similar technologies to help it function properly and to understand how visitors use our site.

9. Children’s privacy

Our services are intended for adults conducting business — buying, selling, or inquiring about Velamon’s ventures. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our services evolve. We’ll post any changes on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of our website or platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.

11. Contact us

If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your information, reach us at hello@velamon.com.

Velamon exists to close the gap between those who create value and those who need it. Velamon Trade is where that begins.
